Wow! What a year it has been! It's always fun looking back at the year through pictures. My kids have certainly grown an inch or two, certainly not babies anymore and we have defintely done our fair share of house projects! To look back and see how much we've done is so exciting!
We moved in here a little over 2 years ago with countless projects left to do and hardly any furniture. And you know what, I have enjoyed finishing it all off room by room, adding furniture here and there and decorating with treasured pieces. What is the rush? I have learned through this whole process that a home becomes a collection, of the pieces that have meaning to you and that you only love, it shows our story and it becomes truly appreciated! So you may enter our home with blank walls and some empty corners and I'm fine with that! With time they will be filled with treasures.
In looking back, I wanted to share my favorite projects we did this year and share what we have planned in the year to come!
First up, is the board and batten in our entryway! It honestly made the space and truly added some character and dimension. Board and batten is timeless and classic and I now want to add it everywhere.
Second, we finally started our mudroom. Handy hubby built the bench and starting adding the moulding up the wall. We are almost finished with it and it will be done in the new year but for now it's a functioning space for us and the kids...a place to store shoes and hang up backpacks. I honestly can't wait for it all to be complete.
I also got all the kids rooms painted and decorated, minus a few pieces here and there. It's nice to have them all settled and with a space to call their own.
Another project that was completed was the build of the barn door for our master bathroom. It truly added character to the whole space and handy hubby did an amazing job in building it! He is in the process of building another one for the girls bathroom. Stay tuned for the full DIY!
Lastly, one of our most treasured pieces was the herringbone coffee table handy hubby built for the family room. He worked tirelessly for a few weeks making those cuts but it is simply beautiful and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect piece for our space.
And there was so much more that I couldn't fit into this post! So what is to come in 2018? I hope you hold me accountable for my long list of to dos! I have always said there is much more to come and that we were just getting started!
I hope to get the hallway upstairs finished. And we need to complete the board and batten going up the stairs. The mudroom is a must! Handy hubby needs to complete the wall and moulding and then we are moving on to the finishing up the other side. I have finally convinced him to install wood beams in the eat in kitchen to add some character, so I am hoping that happens. And we are busting through the wall of the hallway upstairs and finishing off a space for the kids which I am super excited about. We also have some exterior work to complete. That isn't even all of it! 2018 proves to be another year of house projects! It seems like it never ends but I wouldn't have it any other way! Cheers to 2018! Happy New Year, sweet friends!
