I am so excited about my new Design Tips & Tricks series and this week we are talking all about paint and painting an all white room! There is a little trick that I used when painting our whole house white and I will be sharing it all today! The full video is here on IGTV! We have a very open concept floor plan. I decided to paint all our main living spaces in white. For me, it really brightens up the whole space and always makes for a more cohesive look throughout the entire house! I also find it is super easy to decorate around. You can easily swap out rugs and throw pillows and the room will still look pulled together! No more having to repaint walls! Also it works so well seasonally with fall and winter decor. Here is my little trick for painting an all white space! Because all paint colors have different undertones, I paint the whole space in the same shade of white paint. That includes the ceiling, walls, trim and doors! You name it, everywhere! Now to create depth and dimension in the space, you need to use different sheens of the same white paint. I follow this guide when painting any space: The next question I get asked all the time is what white paint I used in our house! I tested out a few different shades and tried them out in different lights and the best shade for our house was Sherwin Williams Alabaster. It's a warmer and softer white with no sneaky undertones and the shade that worked the best in our home. I hope these tips help you in painting an all white space in your home! You can also use my sheen guide when painting any room in any color of paint. Stay tuned for next week! We talk all about...THROW PILLOWS!
