We are slowly making progress on the new house! I mean, slowly.....! Last week Aaron's labor of love was our mudroom floor and he truly did an amazing job! For someone that never has laid brick before...wow!! The entire rest of the house will be hardwood floors and of course I didn't want that in our mudroom. The mudroom will most likely be our main exit and entry since our garage is detached. I needed something that could withstand rain, mud, snow, etc. I am not a fan of slate which is pretty common flooring for the mudroom and I didn't really want tile. Then I came across this picture on Pinterest...swoon!!!
I showed it to handy husband and he said "I guess we can do something like that..."? When we were in the local flooring store picking out bathroom tiles I asked our salesman if they had anything like this in store and showed him the picture. His response...."No one in New Jersey does that!!??" Well you know what?? This TN girl who happens to live in NJ is!!! So we set out to find something similar!!! And I wanted to prove him wrong (PS: Jason you are more than welcome to come by anytime!)
Thankfully Aaron found a source, Old Mill Brick who produces a thin brick, or half brick that we could use on the floor. And Home Depot carries it as a special order! Score!! We ended up choosing the Rushmore color as it had more gray tones and was more neutral than some of the other colors.
Here are a few pictures of the process. And yes handy husband tried his hand at a chevron brick pattern just for me!
Here's a few pictures of it all finished! I can't wait to get our built-ins put in and finish up the room! It truly is the mudroom of my dreams!
