I'm sharing another playroom post today and this one helped us get super organized and stash games, puzzles and more in our playroom closet! It was a weekend DIY and LOVE the way it came out! I can't wait to transform all our closets like this!
We started by taking out all of the existing shelving, filled and sanded all the wall and touch up painted. Here is the before. A big, ole waste of space!
Thankfully this closet was deep so we were able to make deeper shelves to maximize space. Handy hubby used 1x2's cut to size for the brackets for each of the shelves. He screwed them into each side wall. We ended up doing 4 shelves for our 9 foot ceilings so there was definitely plenty of room on top and on the bottom.
For the shelves, we used (2) 12 x1 boards and we stained them all in Sunbleached by Varathane. I loved the light, rustic color of the wood. We nailed them right to the tops of the brackets using 1" brad nails. We can certainly glue them as well.
And that was it! Here they are all complete in the closet.
They fit all our games and puzzles perfectly! With room to spare! It is definitely a DIY project that looks great, maximizes space and didn't cost about $50.
