I am so excited to share my last project for my niece Abby's desk makeover. A few posts back, I shared the old chair and desk I chalk painted for her room. Today I am sharing a fun little DIY that was a sweet surprise and end with squeals of delight!
It is so easy to transform an old frame into a memo board. My sister had this black frame hanging out in her garage and it was the perfect size for over the desk. We decided to paint it the same color as the desk, white using DecoArt's Chalky Finish paint. The color was called Everlasting. Here is a before picture...
And here is the frame after a few coats of paint and a coat of water based poly to give it a nice, durable finish.
Next, we headed to our local co-op and bought a roll of chicken wire for under $15. Grab a pair of wire cutters and a staple gun.
Next, we carefully cut the wire to fit on the back of the frame. You may need the help of a second person for this part but it is a fairly easy job. Then secure all sides down with a staple gun.
How cute does it look already hung on her wall?
We added some artwork and pictures and it looks so cute hung over her desk! I love that you can easily change out photos and artwork and really make it your own. Who knew all the uses of chicken wire? This really was a fun and easy project that cost a few dollars to make. Stay tuned for the big reveal! I can't wait ton share how it all came together.
