Over the next several posts, I am excited to reveal a little project I have been working on over the summer for my sweet niece, Abby! She has longed for a desk in her room and the project kept being put on the back burner by my sister due to her move and...well, life. I was happy to take the project on! First up, is the makeover of this old chair we found stashed in my mom's garage.
Abby's room is full of lots of bright and cheery colors, so we pulled a pretty yellow color from her new duvet color and it just so happens to be her favorite color! I found the perfect soft yellow called Delicate by DecoArt's Chalky Finish Paint line. I love chalk paint because it is so easy to use, no harsh smells and really not too much prep work.
Here is the chair after one coat of paint. The best thing about chalk paint is that it dries fairly quickly.
I always finish off any piece I paint with a water based poly acrylic top coat. I like the water based because it's low on fumes, dries quickly and doesn't yellow over time like oil based top coats. Plus it is washable which is great on tables and desks, anything really!
Here is the finished chair after a few coats and a top coat! Stay tuned for more!
